Soarin', Flyin' with Zipline Iceland
We're soarrrin', flyyyinnn' over waterfalls, rivers, and valleys, oh my!
Our scenic hour and half 'Zipline and Hiking Adventure Tour' in Vik was full of big views, friendly guides, and adrenaline filled fun. Despite the cold weather, it ended up being a highlight of our whole trip.

Our tour started at noon, so we went to explore the nearby Reynisfjara black sand beach and Dyrholaey before. As the snow and wind started to pick up and the temperature dropped, we were starting to get a little nervous about our zipline tour. Is it safe with the strong wind? Do we have enough layers to keep warm? Would it get cancelled? All our questions and fears were put to rest when we received a text from Sammi, the owner of Zipline Iceland. He kept us up to date on the weather conditions, and even gave us the option to postpone our tour to a later time or the next day if we wanted to. He was very reassuring and wanted us to have the best experience we could have. We decided to stick with our noon tour, and I am so glad we did.
We bundled up and arrived at our meeting location, Vik Hostel, where we were greeted by Sammi, Katla (our tour guide), and a sweet pup. They fitted us for a helmet, and helped tighten us into a harness with carabiners. Only four other people joined our tour, which made it a small, one on one experience.

From here, we loaded up in a van and drove about 5 minutes up the road to a pull off. In just a short walk through a snowy, winter wonderland, we were at our first zipline. Katla hooked me up to the line and gave me the green light on when to go. Full of adrenaline, my heart was beating fast as I got a running start and trusted the line to catch me as my feet came off the ground for the first time. It was so thrilling and fun.

There were a total of four different lines, all different lengths with a short walk in between each.

We had the ultimate bird's eye view as we zoomed above flowing rivers, volcanic ash, and lush green valleys covered in fresh snow.

On our last line, they offered a special bonus surprise. The option to bungee! Sammi holds your feet, drags you out as he jumps, releasing you flying in the air. My stomach dropped, but it was electrifying.

Following our last line, we made a short walk back to the van and drove to the meeting point. We worked up an appetite, so after we returned our helmets and harnesses, we asked Sammi for a food recommendation. He said 'Black Crust Pizzeria' was great and so we drove right over. Local supporting local. Gotta love it. At the pizzeria, you order at the counter and they bring it out to you. So good, quick, and a lot of food! Definitely recommend it when in Vik. Also, know there is a mall like building right in Vik with a Kronan grocery store, free public restrooms, a clothing/souvenier store, and coffee shop inside. Lots of options.
