An Overlooked Beauty: Gljufrafoss
Gljufrafoss (absolutely do not ask me to pronounce that. I will butcher it) is an often overlooked waterfall due to its larger superstar neighbor, Seljalandsfoss. However, bigger does not necessarily mean better. This hidden gem turned out to be my favorite waterfall in all of Iceland.

Gljufrafoss is only a 5-10 min walk from Seljalandsfoss. You even use the same parking lot. As you stare at Seljalandsfoss straight on, take the gravel path to the left. It will lead you right to the cave entrance. In my opinion, you should come here before Seljalandsfoss and first thing in the morning to enjoy the cave all to yourself and before the tour buses come. Prepare to get soaked as you sneak through the cracks of the moss covered canyon walls, walking through the shallow stream to reach the falls. It feels magical. Like a leprauchaun could appear at any moment.

We of course had to climb up on the rock right below the falls to snap a bad ass picture. Since we came early, we shared the cave with only 2 other people. Absolutely incredible! Next up: Seljalandsfoss
