Foss-inated by Seljalandsfoss

When you google "Iceland Waterfalls", the dreamy Seljalandsfoss is the first to pop up. It could be because it gained more exposure after an appearance in Justin Bieber's "I'll Show You" music video, but I think the real reason is because It is one of the few waterfalls in Iceland that you can walk behind.

This massive 200ft waterfall is visible from the main road and the signs for the parking lot are very well marked. As of April 2023, it costs 800ISK to park. There are free toilets and a little grab and go cafe next to the parking lot.

Once parked, we walked over to explore the lesser known Gljufrafoss first to avoid tour bus crowds in a tight canyon. We then we came back to Seljalandsfoss since there is much more space to move about. Note: both waterfalls will leave you soaked, so make sure to wear waterproof gear!

Getting behind Seljalandsfoss is doable for any fitness level. Only a slight incline and a few stairs stand between you and the inlet behind the falls. It can get slippery and very crowded, so be cautious. Don't do anything too stupid for the gram.

Take in the falls from all angles, hear the power, and feel the mist on your face. A truly exhilarating experience. Up next: Skogafoss
