Life in the Fast Lane-- Montevideo, Uruguay.
With our bright neon vests and helmets on, we were ready to take on Montevideo by bike. This capital city has a lot to offer from architecture and charming cobblestone paths, to food and leather products. We started our bike tour peddling up a hill, which not only gave me a fear of what the rest of the 3.5 hours would be like, but also showed how out of shape I am. We made it to our first stop, a town square, where we “parked” our bikes and popped into one of the beautiful churches in the area (P.S. fun fact—bikes in Uruguay have a kick stand on both sides so when you park the bike, the tire doesn’t touch the ground at all). The church was beautiful and surprisingly the first church we had been to in our time in South America. It’s not like Europe where there is a church around every corner.

We continued on and eventually ended up on the main road, which was quite busy and scary peddling in a high traffic area. We made a couple other stops in town to take in the architecture and learn a bit more about Uruguay, like how everyone has to vote, or else you get fined. Then we left the city center and headed to the riverfront. We biked for a couple miles along the river and watched the locals in action.

Our tour finished up and drenched in sweat, we went shopping in town before finding a place to eat. The first shop we went to was an instant success. We found leather goods, galore! Woo.
By this time our stomachs were growling, so we found a place to eat. Since Uruguay is known for their steak, and since I am the girl version of Ron Swanson when it comes to meat, it was imperative for me to order a massive steak. And, boy was it delish! That, with a mix of medio y medio (half champagne, half white wine) hit the spot!
