After stuffing myself with one too many croissants in addition to the full English breakfast, it was time to frantically find our bus at Victoria Coach Station. We had no clue where we were going, but luckily we came across the Evan Evans bus, which wasn't hard to miss considering all the tourists were gathered around and it was bright red. We handed the guide our ticket and loaded the bus in pairs (I felt like I was on Noah’s Ark). We took a seat for the first of the many hours spent on the bus.
First on the agenda: Windsor Castle. We didn’t have very long at Windsor, but Kelly and I hustled around to see what our tour guide, Rob, suggested. Our motto for this stop was “Walk and snap, walk and snap.” That being said, I’m pretty sure I didn’t fully stop to take any pictures or have time to fully take in the beauty, just kind of slowed down a bit. But because of this, Kelly and I passed all the groups and made it to the Dollhouse and the State Apartments with no queue (fancy British word for ‘line’), which was our goal with the limited time we had. The dollhouse was breathtaking! It was so detailed that each room even had miniature paintings that famous artists made. It was wayyy too pretty to play with. It forever deserves to stay in the giant glass box we saw it in. The State Apartments were just as impressive as the dollhouse. Huge rooms full of unique furniture, ornamental rugs, and gold everything. They even have “drawing rooms”, which we learned were short for “withdrawing rooms” where the Queen or King would relax after a long day out and about. By the time we finished up the Dollhouse and the State Apartments, we only had a couple minutes left until we had to head back to the bus. So we spent it watching the last bit of the changing of the guards, buying an ornament for our mom, and learning that the Queen is obsessed with corgis! Who knew?
xoxo,
