Ten hour Kruger National Park Game Drive
We started out today on an open vehicle safari game drive at Kruger National Park! Although I dreaded waking up at 5, the sunrise alone was worth it. I felt like it was out of the opening credits in the Lion King.
We had eleven total people in the vehicle including our guide. We were on the hunt to find the “big 5”. This includes the elephant,leopard, cape buffalo, rhino, and lion.
The first animal we saw was the cape buffalo, so we started out on a roll. There was a huge herd of them just chilling- some in the road, some right near the road. They kind of looked like they were wearing a fake George Washington wig that you see in movies, but really it was just their weird horns. We continued on our game drive to see many animals like giraffes, hyenas, and all the rest of the big 5 except the lion. We were sad we didn’t see a lion. I was really good at spotting the animals so the people in my vehicle would call me “Eagle-Eye Emily”. What can I say. I know my animals! The one animals we saw repeatedly was the impala. They were EVERYWHERE! We would see something move in a bush.. but then it would just be a damn impala. We were so mad at them we were hoping that some bigger animal would kill one of them. But sadly we didnt see that. Now we are back at the camp and I just tried some dried mango and peanut butter from Michael. Ewww! Super weird combo.
