Barcelona *lisp* Day Two
After an early wake up call at 6am, I was off to the Medes Islands to snorkel. The clouds were a little dark which made me nervous because I thought it might rain, but it held off! Once we got there we got our snorkeling gear and had a talk about how to wear it and safety.. the usual. We trekked to the boat with our bags of gear. We went out in the oceans over huge waves. It was super rocky and my stomach was dropping. The boat had the potential to flip for sure. Then we finally made it to the snorkel location- We jumped off the boat! Not gonna lie.. snorkeling is harder than you think. I was having major difficulties because I am definitely a nose breather, not a mouth breather. So I went under water expecting to be able to breathe and yup.. swallowed a bunch of salt water. Not a good start for me.. I finally got the hang of it, kind of. I saw a school of fishies swimming below me! :)
Once we finished snorkeling we got to eat our boxed lunches from the ship.. good stuff.. not! I don’t think I’ve mentioned the hell of a boxed lunch they give us. This is literally the lunch: a stale sandwich with mystery bright pink meat, a boiled egg (which is sometimes not boiled and drips all over you like a cracked egg. Ew.), a cold mini chicken drumstick, banana bread with nuts, an oreo, and a Capri Sun. So I take the nuts out of the banana bread and eat that. Then I eat the oreo, which just makes me want more oreos.. who can eat only one oreo? And I drink the Capri Sun.. I am so full after that meal. (sarcasm if you didn’t note it.) Luckily we had free time after we got back to land and I bought myself a desert. Yup. Desert all day erryday. Then we just walked around some shops before heading back to the ship. Once I got back on the ship, I met up with my friends and we went to a sports bar where we thought that the Barcelona futbol game would be playing, but apparently it happened earlier in the day. So we just ate there and played pool. Then we went to this big office building that lights up! I forgot what it is called, but it is on all the postcards in Barcelona so we had to see it!
Then I was back at the ship right before midnight for my field lab the next day (you are required to be back on ship no later than midnight for a field lab)
