Sing to me Paulo--Venice
Up early, we walked around looking for something to chow down on (priority of life abroad) and to find markets. We found this little pastry place and I got a nutella stuffed pastry. HOLY HELL. It was indescribable of how amazing it really was. It was instagram worthy, but what food isn’t here.
Turns out the markets didn’t open until 9 so we carelessly wandered until then, getting our last bits of Florence in. We ended up running into the SAS group for a field program and we saw the guide point to this one gelato shop and say that they are known for the chocolate gelato. So we HAD to wait around until they opened and get some.
After that we headed to the train station to catch our train to VENICE!!
Venice was even more beautiful than I remembered. We walked around trying a bunch of hotels to see if they had vacancies and a bunch of them didn’t. The other ones we found were not the price we were looking for. Until magically we came across this one that was in our price range! Bingo! Of course it didn’t have showers, air conditioning, and had community bathroom, but we could deal with taking a sink bath for one night. After all we were in Venice!
We took a water taxi to San Marco. Not gonna lie water taxis are a bit scary. I thought we might flip over and die a couple times, but we didn’t and that’s all that matters. Haha. We walked around throughout all the little walkways and peaked into all the shops.

The masks were all so detailed and unique. One shopkeeper cut me a deal on a mask that I got for mommy cause she collects them. Success in a foreign land!
We got some dinner… I had pizza again and had a bit of Peach Bellini (Venice’s known drink)
We walked back into the square and pigeons were EVERYWHERE. They were landing on people and such. So I ran up and held my arms out and sure enough a pigeon landed on me. It was so scary and weird, but I loved every second of it. Until I had to figure out how to get it off me. Will it attack me if I move? Like.. what do I do? Turns out you just lower your arm and they fly off. Haha. One of my friends tried it and it barely landed on her and she screamed and ran in the opposite direction. It was probably the funniest moment of this trip. Bahahaaha.

At night we went back to our shitty hotel and spent the night. We got up early this morning to walk around before we had to be back at the ship. We found a place to buy crepes for breakfast! Mine was nutella and banana! Yummmmm. It had a ton of nutella in it though that it was pretty much a desert for breakfast, but oh well. On our walk back to the hotel to check out I SAW A BLACK STANDARD POODLE.. I about died. I kind of let out a squeal. We checked out and took the train from Venice to Florence, then Florence to Livorno. Lots of trains today, but I am stoked about being in Rome tomorrow!
PS. So pissed right now cause someone put The Lizzie McGuire on the public drive and my laptop won’t play it. Damn. I wanted to get in the Roma mood!
xoxo,
